Dr Susan Wegelt Heinz

DNP, CNM, NP, MSCP

WHO I AM:
I have been a Certified Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner for 38 years; providing care to individuals, families, and my community.  This is my calling and my passion and I am dedicated to providing quality, safe, compassionate, inclusive, individualized care.  In 2016 I opened Corvallis Birth & Wellness Center. As time progressed, my practice has grown, and the focus and direction of my practice has also grown.  It is with great joy that I am starting this new practice - Heart of the Valley Gynecology and Sexual Health; a clinic exclusively dedicated to reproductive and sexual health, and gynecology services.

SERVICES:
While I offer routine annuals, contraception, and office gynecology, through the years, I have expanded my own GYN and reproductive health services, with an increasing focus on perimenopause, menopause, and mid-life health services, including hormonal options.  I also work with issues of pelvic pain, incontinence, sexual health, and offering trans health care.  I have focused on a functional, holistic, and preventive approach to health care and offer additional services improving sexual and pelvic health, pelvic floor issues.  I am a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP), a Women’s Health Hormone Therapy Specialist, a member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), the Menopause Society (previously NAMS), the International Pelvic Pain Society (IPPS), and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). These aspects of health care are a focus of my practice and important for me personally and professionally.

WHO I AM:
I have been a Certified Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner for 15 years.  I came to Corvallis and started working with Susan at Corvallis Birth and Wellness Center in January 2019.  I have loved providing care and being involved in the welcoming of hundreds of babies in this community.  And I am equally excited to be moving into this new phase of my career, focusing on gynecology and sexual health. I believe everyone has a right to individualized health care in a space they feel comfortable in, and with people they trust. This is what I strive to provide.

SERVICES:
I am offering routine annual exams, office gynecology, contraceptive management, and more. I enjoy working with people in preventative health care, helping them identify their needs and goals, and helping them find the tools they need to achieve them.  I like working with teens and young people as they enter into navigating their health care needs. I enjoy helping people find methods of contraception that work for them, including hormonal and non-hormonal methods.  I have been training with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and am very excited to be adding trans-health care and hormone therapy to my practice.   I have also have a strong interest in mental health issues and working with individuals who struggle with postpartum depression and mood disorders.
